Konrad-Adenauer-Kaserne (North Rhine-Westphalia)
Konrad Adenauer Barracks

Location of the Konrad-Adenauer-Kaserne in North Rhine-Westphalia

The Konrad-Adenauer-Kaserne in Cologne is a property of the Bundeswehr . It is named after the first Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany , Konrad Adenauer , who was born in Cologne. The main users of the barracks are the Federal Office for Military Counterintelligence and the Office for Army Development .

location

The barracks is located south of the city center in Cologne district of Raderthal in the district Rodenkirchen . To the west of the barracks lies the Cologne South Cemetery , to the south of the property runs the military ring road and to the east the Brühler road.

Brühler Strasse 309/309 A

On the other side of Brühler Strasse, across from the barracks, there is another Bundeswehr property, referred to only as a "service building". The main office of the Air Force , the Higher Pioneer Staff (later the Bundeswehr infrastructure staff) and, from April 1, 1971 to November 30, 2012, the Cologne District Armed Forces Replacement Office were housed in the high-rise building with twelve floors .

Departments

The following offices are stationed in the Konrad-Adenauer-Kaserne:

Facilities

The barracks has four uniform office buildings with five floors as well as a high-rise office building with 14 floors, a conference center , a helicopter landing pad , a sports hall and a tennis court .

history

The barracks was built in the 1960s for what was then the military office. The federal government had previously decided to relocate as many military departments as possible, subordinate to the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg), to the Cologne area. During the planning phase, the idea arose of accommodating the MAD's headquarters, the Office for Security of the Federal Armed Forces (ASBw), which is still located in Bonn. The new building gave the ASBw the opportunity to make structural demands, for example for card indexes and laboratories. Synergy effects such as the joint guarding of the property and the shared use of the modern bunker systems could also be used. At the end of 1964 the ASBw moved into the barracks.
