Konrad Goldmann

Konrad Goldmann (born March 20, 1872 in Tukums , Kurland , then part of Russia ; died July 15, 1942 in Drancy ) was a Jewish entrepreneur and victim of the Shoah .

Life

In 1907 the engineer Konrad Goldmann moved to Freiburg im Breisgau , where he became the owner of the Freiburg wire and cable works on Wentzingerstraße. Konrad Goldmann lived with his family in a villa at Mozartstrasse 30. He had to sell the house and factory because of financial problems. After fleeing to France in 1939, Konrad Goldmann died in 1942 in the Drancy assembly camp near Paris .

Markenhof

In 1919 Konrad Goldmann bought the Markenhof near Kirchzarten . Under the direction of Alexander Moch, an agriculture was operated, which also served as Hachshara , that is, the preparation for immigration to Palestine . The teaching material is considered to be the first kibbutz-like facility for German Jews.

Honors

In Freiburg, a street is named after Konrad Goldmann. In January 2005 the artist Gunter Demnig laid a stumbling block in memory of Konrad Goldmann at his former home address at Mozartstrasse 30 . For his wife Robertina Goldmann, who lives separately from him, a stumbling block was laid at her former home address at Mozartstrasse 14 .
