Konrad Herrmann (director)

Konrad Herrmann (born November 16, 1948 in Bautzen ) is a German director and producer .

Life

At the age of 24, Herrmann received his directing diploma from the University of Film and Television Potsdam - Babelsberg (HFF). Between 1979 and 1982 he was a master student at the HFF with the director Rainer Simon . During this time, the feature film Rublak - The Legend of the Measured Land was made, based on a story by the Sorbian writer Jurij Koch . However, the film only came to the GDR film art theaters in censored form .

From 1976 to 1985 Konrad Herrmann was a director for television in the GDR. In 1986 he moved to the DEFA studio for documentary films due to reprisals . From 1994 he worked as a freelance director and author for ARD and ZDF. In 1997 Herrmann founded the film and television production company HerrmannFilm Berlin .

Sixty films have been made under his direction, including a feature film, documentary dramas, documentaries and reports . At times he also worked as a musical director at the theater. Konrad Herrmann's films have been shown at festivals in Berlin, Leipzig, Kraków, Moscow, Washington, Oberhausen , Bornholm, Budapest, Neubrandenburg, Tübingen and Cologne. Herrmann has received several awards: Herbert Quandt Media Prize , German Business Film Prize 1st Class, Media Prize from Natur-Energie AG, ITVA Award Bronze Pyramid .

Konrad Herrmann has two children and lives in Berlin.
