Konrad Kogler

Konrad Kogler (born October 3, 1964 in Sankt Lorenzen am Wechsel , Styria ) is an Austrian civil servant and has been a board member of the Lower Austria State Health Agency since 2020. From 2017 to 2019 he was State Police Director for Lower Austria . From 2013 to 2017 he was Director General for Public Security in the Federal Ministry of the Interior .

Career

Kogler graduated from the federal upper level secondary school in Hartberg with a high school diploma and on January 1, 1984 joined the Vienna police department as a security guard. From January 1st, 1990 to December 31st, 1991 he was trained as a senior officer ("police officer"). In 1997 he moved to the Interior Ministry in the then existing Gendarmeriezentralkommando , where he worked until February 2000. He was then transferred to Burgenland, where he served as district gendarmerie commander of Neusiedl am See in 2002 and 2003 . In 2002 he also graduated from the University of Vienna with a degree in philosophy with a focus on law with a Master's degree. From 2003 to 2005, Kogler acted as the Deputy State Gendarmeriekommandat of Burgenland.

After the merger of the police and gendarmerie in July 2005, which Kogler played a key role in, he was also deputy state police commander in Burgenland. In 2007 he completed his master's degree in "Personnel Management and Organizational Development" at the Wiener Neustadt University of Applied Sciences . During the European Football Championship in 2008 , Kogler also acted as spokesman for the Ministry of the Interior. Subsequently, he, meanwhile a Brigadier , was appointed Section Head Deputy Section II in the General Directorate for Public Security, and as of January 1, 2011, Head of the Organization, Operations and Operations Group.

On January 1, 2013, he succeeded Herbert Anderl as General Director for Public Security , and Anderl himself was retired on December 17, 2012 by Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner . In this capacity he was also head of Section II (General Directorate for Public Security). On September 1, 2017, he succeeded Franz Prucher as Regional Police Director of Lower Austria , and Michaela Kardeis became Director General for Public Security .

In March 2019 it was announced that Kogler would become managing director of the Lower Austrian Health Agency in 2020. Franz Popp was appointed as his successor as state police director.

Private

Kogler is married and is a father of three. He lives with his family in Lower Austria.
