Konstantin Alexandrowitsch Solnzew ( Russian Константин Александрович Солнцев ; born March 29, 1950 in Panino , Voronezh Oblast ) is a Russian chemist and university professor .

Life

Solnzew studied at the Moscow Lomonosov Institute of Fine Chemical Technologies with a degree in 1973. He continued to work scientifically and became a doctor of chemical sciences .

From 1980, Solnzew worked as a leading scientist in the Kurnakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry (IONCh) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR).

In 1998 Solntsev became the director of the Institute for Physico-Chemical Problems of Ceramic Materials of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN). He also taught at the Lomonosov University Moscow (MGU) and became dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and a member of the Scientific Council of the MGU.

Solzew's work focuses on the development of oxide-ceramic construction materials and the kinetics and structure of their formation processes, thin ceramic substrates for automotive catalysts and gas filters for temperatures between 1200 and 1400 ° C , liquid filters with defined pore diameters and ceramic heat exchangers . 13 international patents have been granted. Boron nitride , boron carbide and carbonitrides as well as boranes were also examined . By doping with yttrium oxide , finely crystalline transparent ceramics were produced for use in lasers . In 2003 he became a corresponding member of RAN and in 2006 a full member. He is also the RAN's deputy president.

In 2007 the institute for physico-chemical problems of ceramic materials was incorporated into the Baikow institute for metallurgy and materials science , of which Solnzew became director.
