Konstantin Scharenberg

Konstantin Scharenberg , originally Konstantin Löwenberg (born September 26, 1892 in Libau, Latvian Liepāja , then Kurland Governorate ; † January 9, 1982 in Ann Arbor ) was a professor of neuropathology .

Life

Scharenberg began studying medicine, which he successfully completed in 1922 with a doctorate at the University of Hamburg . From 1921 to 1925 he was a lecturer in pathologist at the Psychiatric University Clinic Hamburg-Friedrichsberg . In 1926 and 1927 he worked in the Minsk University Mental Hospital .

In early 1927 he emigrated to the United States, where he arrived in Boston on February 14, 1927 . After a short stopover in Berlin (1928), Scharenberg worked at Foxboro State Hospital in Massachusetts and from 1929 to 1930 as an instructor of neuropathology at Yale University . From 1930 Scharenberg worked as an Instructor of Neuropathology at the University's Mental Health Research Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. In 1934 Scharenberg obtained the academic degree of assistant professor , in July 1945 that of associate professor and finally in 1952 that of full professor . From 1937 Scharenberg worked as a neuropathologist at the Institute for Neuropsychiatry at the University Hospital. From 1957-58 he was President of the American Association of Neuropathology . Scharenberg retired in 1963.

Konstantin Scharenberg took the family name of his wife Erika (born October 18, 1903, † September 14, 2001) around 1936.
