The Copenhagen Marathon (official name Nykredit Copenhagen Marathon after the main sponsor, the Danish bank Nykredit ) is a marathon in Copenhagen that has been organized by the sports club Sparta Atletik og Motion since 1980 . It is one of the oldest city marathons in the world.

Since 2003, 4,000 to 5,000 runners have reached the finish line. This makes the Copenhagen Marathon the third largest in Northern Europe after the Stockholm Marathon and the Helsinki Marathon and one of the 25 largest in Europe.

The route initially leads over two different laps (16 and 12 km), then the first lap is to be run again on largely the same route (14 km). This gives the audience the opportunity to see the runners several times. The highest point of the route is 30 m above sea level. M. reached at kilometer 21, otherwise the route is flat with elevations between 5 and 10 m above sea level. M. The start is right in the city center at the Danish Royal Library .

The timekeeping takes place with the help of a transponder chip on the shoe, which the organizer provides the runners with on loan.
