Kopperston (also Kopperstone ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Wyoming County in the US state of West Virginia . The place is 506 m above sea level. Kopperston once had a post office that closed on March 10, 2007. At the time of the United States 2010 , Kopperston had 616 residents.

geography

Kopperston is in the Toney Fork Valley , east of Huff Mountain . It lies in the catchment area of ​​the upper Guyandotte River and is drained towards the Gulf of Mexico . The valley through which West Virginia Route 85 runs runs northeast to southwest.

Kopperston was founded in 1938 by the Koppers Coal Company as a mining settlement . Funding was discontinued in 1997.
