society

Çölgeçen began club football in the youth of Göztepe Izmir and was added to the reserve team in summer 2001. Here he won a regular place straight away. Here he was noticed by the coaching staff of the professional team and, parallel to his work in the reserve, was also involved in the training of the professionals and sat on the bench a few times. He made his debut for the professional team on May 3, 2002 in a Süper Lig game against Trabzonspor . In August of the same year he finally received a professional contract, but continued to play mainly for the reserve. Göztepe missed relegation in the 2002/03 season. Çölgeçen went to the next season with his team in the TFF 1st Lig . Here he immediately fought for a regular place and completed 21 league encounters by the end of the season.

Because Göztepe at the end of the season in the TFF 2nd league relegation , Çölgeçen left the club and moved to the second division Kocaelispor . He worked for this club for three seasons before moving to the first division club Kayserispor . Here he received great support from coach Tolunay Kafkas and became one of the shooting stars of the season. At the end of the season he reached fifth place in the table in the Süper Lig with his team and won the Turkish Football Cup . In that he was out most of the season due to injury.

For the 2009/10 season he moved to league rivals MKE Ankaragücü . Here he experienced a mixed season and made 15 league appearances.

At the end of the season Çölgeçen left Ankaragücü and moved to the Süper Lig promoted Bucaspor . After this club was relegated to the TFF 1st Lig after one season, Çölgeçen moved again. This time for the second division Denizlispor . Even at Denizlispor he failed to make the leap into the main lineup; he left the club at the end of the season.

In the summer of 2012, his move to Ankaraspor was only announced. This club had been suspended from all competitions by the Turkish Football Association two years earlier and, after lengthy court hearings, had been given the right to participate in the Süper Lig again. Therefore, several seasoned players, including Koray Çölgeçen, were bought in during the summer. Ankaraspor later decided to suspend a season itself, so that the purchased players were released again. Then Çölgeçen moved to the second division Adanaspor .

At Adanaspor Çölgeçen came in the first half of the 2012/13 season to a use in the Turkish Cup. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Balıkesirspor and moved to Alanyaspor on July 26, 2013 . In January 2016 he left this club.
