Michaelis cord

Kord Michaelis (born December 24, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German cantor and church music director .

Life

Kord Michaelis grew up in Hamburg, where he received his first musical training on the violin , viola , piano and organ . As a graduate of the Albert-Schweitzer-Musikgymnasium , he studied at the Detmold University of Music in the main subjects organ with Gerhard Weinberger and singing with Hildegard Uhrmacher .

From 1991 to 1993 he was cantor in Rheinfelden (Baden) and district cantor in Lörrach ; from 1993 he was church music director at the town church in Celle . Since 2001, Kord Michaelis, succeeding Rolf Schweizer of the country Kantor of Baden State Church in Pforzheim and as such acts as cantor and organist at the Stadtkirche Pforzheim and head of the motet choir Pforzheim, the Jugendkantorei Pforzheim, the Bach Orchestra Pforzheim and the Oratorio Choir Pforzheim. Kord Michaelis has been regional church music director of the Evangelical regional church in Baden since January 2013 .

Since May 2011, Kord Michaelis has been President of the Church Music Directors' Conference of the Evangelical Church in Germany. He is also one of the two Vice Presidents of the Baden-Württemberg State Music Council .
