Korie Homan (born June 16, 1986 in Nieuwleusen ) is a former Dutch wheelchair tennis player .

Career

Korie Homan has been dependent on a wheelchair since a car accident in 1998. At the age of 13 she started wheelchair tennis and started in the paraplegic class . In 2003, she had her injured leg amputated.

She participated in 2008 in Beijing at the Paralympic Games and it joined it in both the single and double competition at. In the singles she reached the final, which she lost against Esther Vergeer in three sets. She won gold in doubles with Sharon Walraven . In the final they defeated Esther Vergeer and Jiske Griffioen in three sets.

At the Wheelchair Tennis Masters she reached the final three times in a row from 2007 to 2009. She lost to Esther Vergeer in all three games. In 2004 she won her first title in the doubles competition, followed by the second in 2009. In 2006 and 2007 she was also in the final, but remained without a win. In Grand Slam tournaments , she celebrated her only single title win at the 2010 Australian Open . In doubles she won a total of five titles, all alongside Esther Vergeer. The first title win came in 2005 at the US Open , the other four all in 2009, which you also managed a Grand Slam. After the Australian Open 2010, she ended her career.

In the world rankings she achieved her best placements in singles with second place on November 19, 2007 and in doubles with first place on July 27, 2009.
