Corrosia Metalla (often called Korrozia Metalla transcribed; wiss transliteration. Korrozija Metalla ; in Cyrillic : Коррозия Металла ; Russian for metal corrosion ") is a Russian metal band. The only constant member is Sergei Troizki, also known under the pseudonym "Паук" (transkr .: Pauk; Russian for 'spider').

Band history

1982 to 1993

Korrosija Metalla was founded in 1982 by bassist and singer Sergei Troizki in Moscow . Since heavy metal was not tolerated by the communists who were still ruling at the time, it was not until 1985 that the band released their demo under the title Wlast Sla (Cyril: Власть зла , eng .: 'Power of Evil') (under this Titles were later released with an EP, a live album and a DVD). The song Lucifer contained on it became an integral part of their concerts from then on.

In 1987 there followed an appearance at the Red October cultural center in Moscow , which was released as a live album (kyrill .: Жизнь в Октябре , German: 'Live in October'). In 1988, the band finally released their debut album Orden Satany self-published ( Samizdat ), later re-releases were made via Moroz Records . The album was rerecorded a few years later and called a classic by Børge and LEX from the online magazine Metalglory . In 1989, the self-published second album Russian Vodka followed and in 1990 the third album Kannibal , which in addition to the regular pieces also contains three live recordings. The latter album was released on the Soviet state label Melodija .

During the attempted coup in August 1991 , Korrosija Metalla played live on the side of the defenders of democracy ; there are video recordings of the band together with Boris Nikolajewitsch Jelzin and the released Mikhail Sergejewitsch Gorbachev . The band caused a sensation outside of Russia after a report in the Wall Street Journal on February 18, 1993, according to which Troitsky ran for the office of mayor of Moscow with the support of the far-right Russian National Party .

Troitski's statements in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda on January 23, 1993 also allow the conclusion that it was a campaign in favor of himself and the band.

From 1994

Troitski was more and more open to ultra-nationalism and right-wing extremist ideas, and the band itself was openly right-wing extremist.

When "a kind of pogrom mood spread among young people" in Russia in 1993 and 1994, Troitsky , described as very charismatic, was one of those who were able to use this trend for their goals. One newspaper reported on an "alliance between violent metal fans and the radical political parties of the right wing". In addition, the band caused a sensation with their stage shows, in which "[n] ackte dancers [...] strutting around on stage between the musicians and masturbating ".

The compilation by Tschertei - spassai Rossiju! (kyrill. Бей чертей - спасай Россию!, Eng . 'Beat the Devils - Save Russia!'), played all the racist and nationalist songs published by the band up to then. In the black metal scene, the band became known through the book Lords of Chaos and a cover version by the band Nifelheim . This is a piece from the time before the political change of the band, with which the Nifelheim musicians want nothing to do.

In 2008, the compilation Russian Vodka was released , not identical to the album from 1989, intended as the best of for the North American market and at the same time the last release of the label Vinland Winds by Richard "Grimnir Wotansvolk" Mills, which has since been dissolved and can be assigned to the NSBM environment, in 2006 late singer of the American NSBM band Grand Belial's Key . The band Hail the New Dawn from the well-known English right-wing rock band Skrewdriver covered the compilation . The band's logo now also includes a spider whose legs are represented in the form of a six-armed swastika .

In June 2010 the album Woina mirow was released , a concept album about natural disasters, extraterrestrial invaders and various well-known horror and science fiction motifs. For example, the song Bunt i Wosstaniye Schelesnych Mashin ( Бунт и Восстание Железных Машин , Eng . 'Rebellion and Uprising of the Iron Machines') is about the films in the Terminator series.

Music style and lyrics

Korrosija Metalla's demo recording Wlast Sla is in the style of contemporary publications by Slayer and Metallica and contains a song called Lucifer that has become an integral part of their concerts. The sound is "shit" according to Børge from Metalglory Magazine . On the live album Schisn w Oktjabre the vocals sounded “rougher and more aggressive, the instruments were more mature, even if some things still sound squeaky due to the live performance. But there was a full board, unimaginable for Soviet standards at the time, Metallica and Slayer-like speed and thrash. ”LEX from the online magazine Metalglory calls the debut album Orden Satany a classic and describes the music as“ very rough, snotty Thrash that goes along with it Punk elements and real rock'n roll can definitely pass as a Russian-speaking, but crazier, harder variant of Motörhead ”.

On the third album, Kannibal, there are new recordings of older songs, newer punk / thrash-heavy songs. The fourth album, Sadism, is “the hardest thing they've hit to date. As the title suggests, hyperspeed thrash is being slaughtered and splattered according to all rules. Out of this bloodbath, however, the brilliant mid-tempo pieces 'Come to Sabbath' and 'Kiss of Devil' stand out. "

Troizki became more and more open to right-wing extremist ideas, and the band itself was openly right-wing extremist: "The most popular song by Korrozia Metalla", according to Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind ( Lords of Chaos ), is Kill the Сунарефа ('Kill the Sunaref' ) from the album Садизм (1992). Sunaref is "a gutter expression for the dark-skinned minorities from the south". The band wrote about the title:

“We dedicate this song to all patriots who fight against the South Asian animals, who poison our lives with their rotten fruits and vegetables and rape our women. The death of the Sunarefa is our destiny. "

- Sergei Troitsky

The translations of the notes on this song appeared in a Penthouse article in September 1993 . A stylized swastika is emblazoned on the 1995 album 1.966 , and the music has also changed significantly. Digitally distorted sounds dominate. On the live album Nicht Kapituliren (with a German title and spelling mistakes in the original) the saying Gott mit uns is used, which was also on the belt buckles of the Wehrmacht soldiers , and in the booklet “you can see a fake Adolf Hitler like him Joke figure stands on stage between two naked girls ”. On the EP Saderschite pojesd there are no swastikas or Hitler images, on the following album Kompjuter-Gitler the band flirted openly with the symbolism of the National Socialists , so in the booklet there is a faithful image of Hitler between naked women. Pictures of naked women with swastika flags and Hitler pictures can also be found on the following publications.
