history

The family first appears in a document on September 28, 1460 with Hermann Kotvlesch, councilor of the new town of Herford . The family line begins with Hermann Kotfleisch, councilor and mayor (1539–1549) of the old town of Herford . His grandson Hermann Kotfleisch was the mayor of Osterode in East Prussia and the founder of the East Prussian line, which has been called Kortzfleisch since the middle of the 17th century. A Fanzisus Kortzfleisch was a Prussian councilor and bailiff in Tilsit . His son, Colonel Franz Kortzfleisch († May 17, 1742) was raised to the Prussian nobility on July 27, 1731. He was hereditary lordon chocolates and Jägerberg and also had numerous sons: Franz Friedrich (* 1717), Anton (* 1719), Bernhard (* 1720), Andreas (* 1724), Johann (* 1726), Otto (* 25 February 1729) and Leopold (1732-1804). Leopold died a Prussian colonel.
