August Louis Emil Achatius von Kortzfleisch (born April 25, 1811 in Krausen , Stallupönen district , † January 7, 1890 in Erfurt ) was a Prussian major general .

August was a son of Friedrich Otto von Kortzfleisch (1758–1836) and his wife Charlotte, born von Lebbin (1783–1865). His father was a Prussian Rittmeister as well as a gentleman on Worplack and Krausen. He still had fourteen siblings.

Military career

Kortzfleisch visited the cadet houses in Kadett and Berlin . He was then employed on July 25, 1828 as porter ensign in the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army and advanced to secondary lieutenant until mid-November 1831 . From February 3, 1841 to October 8, 1846 he was in command as adjutant and accounting officer of the 2nd Battalion in the 3rd Landwehr Regiment in Gumbinnen . On March 27, 1858 he was promoted to major and on October 5, 1858, he was transferred to the 1st Combined Reserve Battalion as commander. This was followed on August 30, 1859 as commander of the Landwehr battalion of the 34th Infantry Regiment (2nd Reserve Regiment) in Ortelsburg . With the formation of this association to the Pomeranian Fusilier Regiment No. 34, Kortzfleisch became the commander of the III. Battalion and promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861 .
