Worpławki ( German Worplack ) is a village in Poland in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is located in the Gmina Reszel ( urban and rural community Rößel ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Worpławki is located in northeast Poland, about 30 km south of the state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast . Neighboring towns within a two to four kilometer radius are in the northeast Babieniec (Babziens) , in the northwest Gudniki (Gudnick) and in the south Reszel (Rößel) .
history
Today's Worpławki was created in 1341 on the area of the Prussian settlement Warpelauke . The name was used as a designation for a long time. In the 18th century the name changed to Worplak and in the following century to Worplack .
In 1783 twelve houses were found here, in 1817 there were eight in which 88 residents lived. In 1874 Worplack came to the newly established administrative district Klawsdorf ( Polish: Klewno ) in the district of Rößel in the administrative district of Königsberg (from 1905: administrative district of Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia . On December 1, 1910, 124 residents were counted in the Worplack manor district. On September 30, 1928, Worplack lost its independence and was incorporated into the neighboring village of Klawsdorf .
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population voted in the referendums in East and West Prussia on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Worplack, 80 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, Poland did not cast any votes.
During the East Prussian operation , the area was captured by the Red Army in 1945 . As a result of the war, the village came under the name of Worpławki to the People's Republic of Poland . Worpławki has been part of the Reszel municipality since 1973 . Today 63 people live in the village.
church
Until 1945 Worplack was parish in the Protestant church Rößel in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic parish church of Rößel in the diocese of Ermland at that time .
On the evangelical side, Worpławki is now part of the Kętrzyn parish in the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland . On the Catholic side, there is still a relationship with the parish in Reszel or in Gudniki (Gudnick) in the current Archdiocese of Warmia within the Polish Catholic Church .
