Widryny ( German  Widrinnen ) is a village in Poland in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the urban and rural community Reszel ( Rößel ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Widryny is located in north-eastern Poland, 40 kilometers south of the border with the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad , on the south bank of Lake Widrinner ( Jezioro Widryńskie in Polish ). To the district town of Kętrzyn (German Rastenburg ) it is 17 kilometers in a north-easterly direction.

history

In 1378 the owner of the surrounding estates set up his seat on the site of today's Widryny on an area of ​​10 hooves . In 1563 both Germans and Poles lived in the village, in 1693 only Poles lived in the village. In 1820 there were 22 residential buildings in the village. The village school opened in 1837.

In 1874 Widrinnen was incorporated into the newly established administrative district Rehstall (Polish: Stachowizna ), which was renamed "District Pülz" (Polish: Pilec ) on June 22, 1929 and until 1945 belonged to the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg in the Prussian province of East Prussia . Until 1929, Widrinnen was also included in the Rehstall registry office , then until 1945 in the Bäslack registry office ( Bezławki in Polish ).

In 1945, at the end of World War II , the Red Army marched into the area. As a result of the war, Widrinnen became part of the People's Republic of Poland as "Widryny" . In 1973 the Schulzenamt Widryny, to which the localities Grzybowo (Spiegels-Korschen) , Pasterzewo (Pastern) , Śpigiel (Spiegels) and Śpiglówka (Spieglowken , 1938 to 1945 Spiegelswalde) belong, became part of the municipality of Reszel (Rößel) in the powiat Kętrzyński (district Rastenburg ). In 1975 a building for a retail store was built, and in 1976 an eight-grade elementary school was opened in Widryny.

Until 1945 Widrinnen was parish in the Protestant Church of Warpuhnen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of Legienen in what was then the diocese of Warmia .

Today Widryny belongs to both the Protestant and Catholic sides of Warpuny (Warpuhnen) - in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and in the current Archdiocese of Warmia in the Polish Catholic Church .
