State election in Tyrol 1919
The state election in Tyrol in 1919 took place on June 15, 1919 and was the first state election in Tyrol after the end of the First World War and the loss of South Tyrol . The election was carried out in the two constituencies of North Tyrol and South Tyrol, with 28 seats to be awarded per constituency. In the constituency of South Tyrol, however, due to the separation from South Tyrol, elections could only be made in the Lienz district. The distribution of the 28 mandates in the constituency of South Tyrol was therefore made by extrapolating the distribution of votes in the Lienz district.
The Tyrolean People's Party (TVP) emerged victorious in the state elections . She was able to achieve 38 of the 56 mandates and achieved a two-thirds majority. Second place went to the Social Democratic Labor Party of Austria , which won 11 seats. This was followed by the German Freedom Party with 6 mandates and the Economic Association with one mandate. The party of war invalids failed to enter the state parliament.
77.62% of those eligible to vote took part in the state election, which was the first to be held under general, equal and direct suffrage.
