Distribution of mandates in the Tyrolean Parliament 1994–1999

A total of 36 seats

The state elections in Tyrol in 1994 took place on March 13, 1994. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) slightly lost its share of the vote and achieved the worst result in its history, but was able to hold its 19 seats and thus also defended its absolute majority. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) also suffered a defeat, but lost around 3% and thus 2 of its nine seats to date, and thus achieved its worst result to date. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was able to achieve slight profits and gained a mandate in addition to 0.6% of the vote. Thus 6 MPs of the FPÖ moved into the new state parliament. The Green Alternative Tirol (GRÜNE) also gained 1.8% and increased its mandate from 3 to 4. The Liberal Forum (LIF), on the other hand, failed because of its entry into the state parliament, as did Die Independent Tiroler (DU), the Austrian Nature Law Party (ÖNP) ) and the United Green Austria (VGÖ).

In 1994 451,673 people were entitled to vote in the state elections, which meant an increase in the number of people entitled to vote by 17,202 people. The turnout had fallen from 90.89% in 1989 to 88.13%.
