Distribution of mandates in the Tyrolean state parliament 1957–1961

A total of 36 seats

The state elections in Tyrol in 1957 took place on October 27, 1957. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) was able to achieve slight profits and hold the absolute majority of votes and mandates. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPO) was as early as 1953 as the winner of the regional elections produced, gaining two seats. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which emerged from the electoral party of the Independents (WdU), won two mandates and thus lost two mandates to its predecessor organization when there was a strong loss of votes. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) also lost votes and missed entry into the state parliament just as clearly as the “Free Tyrolean Home List” (FTH), which had only stood as a candidate in the constituency of North.

In 1957, 269,451 people were entitled to vote in the state elections, which meant an increase in the number of people entitled to vote by 12,954. Voter turnout had also fallen slightly from 93.40% in 1953 to 93.93%.
