State election in Tyrol in 1965
The state election in Tyrol in 1965 took place on October 17, 1965. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) achieved strong profits and was able to win two mandates. Although the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was able to gain slight votes, it lost a mandate to the ÖVP. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) also lost a mandate to the ÖVP, where it also lost around a third of its votes. The Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) did not run for the first time since 1945.
In 1965, 308,926 people were eligible to vote in the state elections, which meant an increase in those eligible to vote by 19,279 people. The turnout had also fallen slightly compared to 1961 from 92.43% to 90.72%.
