Distribution of mandates in the Tyrolean Parliament 1999–2003

A total of 36 seats

The 1999 state election in Tyrol took place on March 7, 1999. The share of the vote of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) remained almost unchanged, although the ÖVP lost one seat and only achieved 18 of the 36 seats. The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) recovered from its worst election result in 1994 and was able to gain around 2% of the votes and one mandate. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was also able to win a mandate and, with a plus of 3.5%, almost caught up with the SPÖ. The SPÖ achieved 8 seats, the FPÖ 7. A loss, however, suffered the Green Alternative Tirol (GRÜNE), which lost 2.7% and one seat. The Liberal Forum (LIF) failed as in 1994 again on entry into the state parliament and the Communist Party of Austria (CPA), which ran Innsbruck only in the constituency, failed because of the way into the parliament.
