Kocibórz ( German  Kattmedien ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Reszel ( urban and rural community Rößel ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Kocibórz is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , five kilometers southeast of the former district town of Rößel ( Reszel in Polish ) and 14 kilometers southwest of today's district metropolis Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).

history

The place called Katmedien after 1820 was a small manor village until 1945. On February 17, 1361, 15 hooves were prescribed in the Katmedien field. In 1785 Kattmedien was "a noble estate and Vorwerk with 5 fireplaces". 1874 was in the newly built office district Klawsdorf ( Polish Klewno incorporated) that the county Rößel in Administrative district Königsberg (1905 and 1945 was: administrative district Allenstein ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1820 Kattmedien had 82 inhabitants, in 1885 94 and 1905 and 1910 as many inhabitants.

On October 17, 1928, the manor districts Legienen (Polish Leginy ) and Kattmedien were incorporated into the rural community Labendzowo (1932 to 1945 Schwanau , Polish Łabędziewo ), which was renamed the rural community "Legienen" on the same date. This new rural community was reclassified on March 11, 1930 to the Loszainen district (1936 to 1945 "Loßainen district", place name Łężany in Polish ).

As a result of the war, in 1945 all of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland . This also included Kattmedien, which received the Polish form of the name "Kocibórz". Today it is a place in the network of the urban and rural community Reszel (Rößel) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945, Kattmedien was parish in the Protestant Church Rößel in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Maria Magdalena in Legienen in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . The Catholic relationship to Leginy still exists for Kocibórz today, although the parish now belongs to the Archdiocese of Warmia . The Protestant residents of Kattmedien orient themselves towards the parish in Kętrzyn in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
