Bertyny ( German  Bertienen ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Reszel ( urban and rural community Rößel ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Bertyny is located in the northern center of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship , eight kilometers southeast of the city of Reszel ( German  Rößel ) and nine kilometers southwest of the district town of Kętrzyn (German Rastenburg ).

history

The then Bertinen was founded as a large farm in 1853. In the Royal Prussian Official Gazette on December 23, 1853 it was noted: “ The name Bertinen was added to the establishment newly built on the field mark of the Beeslack village, Rastenburg district, without changing anything in the previous municipal, police and other conditions ". Bertienen was until 1945 a residential area of the community Bäslack ( Polish Bezławki ) in the district of Rastenburg in the administrative district of Königsberg within the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1885 there were 50 registered residents, in 1905 there were still 34.

In war-induced Bertienen 1945 came with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and received the Polish form of the name "Bertyny". Today it is a village in the urban and rural community Reszel (Rößel) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship belongs. In 2007 Bertyny had 40 inhabitants.

Until 1945 Bertienen was parish in the Protestant Church Bäslack ( Polish Bezławki ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church Heiligelinde (Polish Święta Lipka ) in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . Today Bertyny is evangelically oriented towards the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland . On the Catholic side, there is a connection to the Bezławki Church , a branch church of the Wilkowo parish (Wilkendorf) , in the current Archdiocese of Warmia .

Bertyny is located on a subordinate side road that connects Bezławki (Bäslack) with Bezławecki Dwór (Bäslackshof) . In addition, a side street coming from Stąpławki (Adlig Stumplack) ends in Bertyny. There is no rail connection.
