The Dornbirn City Hospital is a public hospital in the Austrian city of Dornbirn . It is the only public hospital in the state of Vorarlberg that is administered and run by the municipality and the second largest hospital in the state. All other public hospitals in Vorarlberg are run as state hospitals .
There are 284 beds available in the Dornbirn hospital. The patients are cared for in seven primary care units as well as the trauma surgery outpatient department, the interdisciplinary day surgery and the intensive care unit , the physiotherapy department as well as in specialist departments for ENT , eyes and plastic surgery .

There are currently seven primary departments (departments), each of which is managed by a primary physician (senior physician). The medical management of the entire hospital is currently the responsibility of Walter Neunteufel, who is also primary in the gynecology and obstetrics department .

Austria's only violence and abuse outpatient clinic has been set up in the primary care unit for gynecology and obstetrics since 2003. In this special contact point for victims of abuse, specially trained doctors carry out the initial examination after cases of abuse. According to its own statement, the aim of the ambulance is to spare the victims the agony of several examinations and interrogations and at the same time to secure evidence that can be used in court. The special ambulance, which is open 24 hours a day, is the contact point for up to 100 patients every year.
building
The Dornbirn City Hospital is located in the heart of the city in the Hatlerdorf district . Located between Vorarlberger Strasse , Lustenauer Strasse and Dornbirner Ach , the hospital is easily accessible and extremely central. In the meantime, the aftercare ward and a nursing home have been housed in the building of the old city hospital, which is connected to an underground corridor - but its staff moved to the newly built Birkenwiese nursing home in March 2014.
In 2017, a new helicopter landing pad for air ambulance was built on the roof of the hospital, which is almost 600 square meters and has its own underfloor heating to make it suitable for winter. The emergency doctor's vehicle (NEF), which is operated in cooperation with the Dornbirn Red Cross , is stationed in a garage built between the nursing home and the hospital in 2009 .
The original hospital building, which went into operation on December 1, 1983, was expanded for the first time in 2004 to include an additional administrative building.
