The district of Baktalórántháza (Hungarian Baktalórántházai járás ) is an inland district in the center of the northeast Hungarian county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg . It borders on the following seven districts, starting in the west in a clockwise direction: Nyíregyháza , Kemecse , Kisvárda , Vásárosnamény , Mátészalka , Nyírbátor and Nagykálló .

history

During the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013, the district emerged from 12 of the 19 municipalities of its predecessor, the small area of the same name (Hungarian Baktalórántházai kistérség ). Seven municipalities (with 43.7% of the area and 43.5% of the population) were given to the surrounding districts (Kemecse 2, Kisvárda 2, Nyíregyháza 1, Vásárosnamény 2).
