The Tiszavasvári District (Hungarian Tiszavasvári járás ) is a district in the west of the northeast Hungarian Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County . It borders the Nyíregyháza district in the east of the county . In the south, forming circular Hajdúnánás from Hajdú-Bihar border. From Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén in north and northwest which form circles Tokaj and Szerencs the border, in the southwest of the county Tiszaújváros .

history

The district emerged as part of the Hungarian administrative reform in early 2013 with 6 of the 10 municipalities of its predecessor, the small area of the same name (Hungarian Tiszavasvári kistérség ). The remaining 4 communities came to the eastern neighboring district of Nyíregyháza . The loss of territory in the small area / district was 97.39 square kilometers (20.3%) or 8,055 inhabitants (22.8%).
