Tokaj (Hungarian Tokaji járás ) is a district in the east of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in northeast Hungary . It borders on Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County to the south and east . Tokaj County is the successor of the small area of the same name (Hungarian Tokaji kistérség ), whose 11 municipalities were taken over unchanged in the same layout during the Hungarian administrative reform at the beginning of 2013.
The district has an average community size of 1,157 inhabitants on an area of ​​23.26 square kilometers. The population density of the smallest district in terms of area was below that of the county. The administrative seat was the only city of Tokaj in the east of the district.
