The district of Mezőcsát (Hungarian Mezőcsáti járás ) is a district in the southeast of the northeastern Hungarian county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén . It borders Hajdú-Bihar County to the east . The district was created in the course of the administrative reform at the beginning of 2013 from 7 of the 9 municipalities of the small area of the same name, which was dissolved at the end of 2012 (Hungarian Mezőcsáti kistérség ). The other 2 communities came to the Mezőkövesd district to the west . Ultimately, the Mezőcsát district was reinforced by the Hejőpapi municipality from the Tiszaújváros area .
The district has an average community size of 1,777 inhabitants on 43.91 square kilometers. The population density is one of the lowest in the county. The district seat is located in the only town Mezőcsát in the center of the district.
