Kazincbarcika (Hungarian Kazincbarcikai járás ) is a district in the western part of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County in northeast Hungary . It borders Heves County in the south and was created in the course of the Hungarian administrative reform in 2013 as the successor to the small area Kazincbarcika (Hungarian: Kazincbarcikai kistérség ), which was dissolved at the end of 2012 . The small area gave up 20 of the 32 municipalities to the successor district, the Putnok district to the north received 12 municipalities. Reinforced by another 2 municipalities from the dissolved Miskolc area, the district now comprises 22 municipalities.
The district has an average community size of 2,877 inhabitants on an area of ​​15.53 square kilometers. The population density is the second highest in the county. The district seat is located in the largest city Kazincbarcika , in the center of the circle.
