The Szerencs District (Hungarian Szerencsi járás ) is a district within the north-east Hungarian county of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén . It borders Hajdú-Bihar County in the south . The district was created in the course of the administrative reform in early 2013 from 14 of the 18 municipalities of the small area of the same name (Hungarian Szerencsi kistérség ). Two municipalities each changed to the Miskolc district ( Sóstófalva and Újcsanálos ) and the Gönc district ( Golop and Tállya ). The latter two came back to their region of origin after the local elections (2013 ??).
The district has an average community size of 2,472 inhabitants on an area of 29.97 square kilometers. The population density is slightly below that of the county. The district town is the only city in the district.
