The county Miskolc (Hungarian Miskolci járás ) is a circle in the center of the northeast in Hungary located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén . For the 2013 administrative reform, 37 municipalities from the small area Miskolc ( Miskolci kistérség ) were transferred to the successor district of Miskolc, 3 municipalities switched to the districts of Kazincbarcika ( Alacska , Sajószentpéter ) and Tiszaújváros ( Muhi ). Two municipalities from the small Szerencs area were added to compensate for this . The city of Miskolc itself borders on Heves County to the west .
The district has an average community size of 6,109 (without Miskolc only 2,109) inhabitants on an area of ​​24.94 (without Miskolc: 19.37) square kilometers. The population density of the largest and most populous district is the highest in the county. The district seat is in Miskolc , which is also the administrative seat of the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county and a city with county rights (Hungarian Megyei jogú város ).
