Bükkszentkereszt ( Slovak Nova Huta ) is a Hungarian community in the county Miskolc in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén . The district Hollóstető belongs to the municipality .

Geographical location

Bükkszentkereszt is located in northern Hungary , twelve kilometers southwest of the Miskolc county seat . Neighboring communities are Répáshuta and Bükkszentlászló, which is now part of the city of Miskolc.

history

Until 1940 Bükkszentkereszt was called Újhuta , which means Neuhütte in German. This old name indicates that glass production used to play an important role in the town. In the second half of the 18th century, in addition to window glasses, bottles of various shapes were made, especially for wine.
