Miskolc small area
The small area Miskolc ( Hungarian Miskolci kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) within the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county until the end of 2012 . In the course of the administrative reform of 2013, the small area was mainly (37 of 40 municipalities) in the subsequent Miskolc district (Hungarian Miskolci járás ), 2 localities changed to the Kazincbarcika district ( Kazincbarcikai járás in Hungarian ), the village of Muhi moved to the Tiszaújváros district ( Hungarian Tiszaújvárosi járás ).
At the end of 2012 there were 257,559 inhabitants on an area of 1006.37 km². With 256 inhabitants per square kilometer, it was the most densely populated small area in the county. The administrative headquarters were in Miskolc . The third largest city in Hungary is equal to a county.
