Ónod is a Hungarian municipality in Miskolc County in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County .

Geographical location

Ónod is located in the north of Hungary , 22 kilometers from the Miskolc county seat . Neighboring communities are Muhi and Sajópetri 6 km. The nearest town Nyékládháza is 7 km away from Ónod.

history

On October 3, 1560, the designated bishop of Eger , Antonius Verantius (Hungarian Antal Verancsics , Croat. Antun Vrančić ) wrote to Emperor Ferdinand regarding his reconciliation with Mr. Bebek, the owner of the Ónod castle, that Mr. Perenny and Pethew were in the same castle - the latter lord of Gedew Castle - mediated, but Bishop Verantius was forced to "endure the defeat as well as the shame and hardship" and to take care of all the defense troops of this border section in the face of the continuing Turkish pressure.
