Encs small area

The Encs small area ( Hungarian Encsi kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) within Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county until the end of 2012 . In the course of the administrative reform of 2013, 29 localities were transferred to the following Encs district (Hungarian Encsi járás ), 5 localities were assigned to the Gönc district ( Gönci járás in Hungarian ) and 2 localities to the Szikszó district ( Szikszói járás in Hungarian ).

At the end of 2012 the small area had a population of 449.45 km² with 23,492 inhabitants. The administrative seat was in the only city Encs (6.500 Ew.).
