Geographical location
Tállya is located in northern Hungary , 45 kilometers northeast of the Miskolc county seat , in the Tokaj wine region . Neighboring municipalities are Golop , Rátka and Mád .
history
The area was already inhabited in prehistoric times. In the 15th century the place was mentioned as a city. The name probably comes from French immigrants. In the Middle Ages there was a castle here, which was in ruins as early as the 16th century. Zsuzsanna Lorántffy, the wife of Georg I. Rákóczi , used it as a quarry. During the Rákóczi uprising , Tállya was a main location for the Kuruc . In 1711 the Rákóczi family lost the place to the Bretzenhein family. Later it went to the Sóhalmi family.
