Tiszavasvári is a town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County , which is in northeastern Hungary . The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .
location
The city is located on the Eastern Main Canal (Hungarian Keleti-főcsatorna ) and 28 kilometers west of the Nyíregyháza county seat . Neighboring communities are Szorgalmatos and Tedej.
history
Tiszavasvári emerged from the two communities Tiszabűd and Szentmihály , which were initially united in 1941 under the name Bűdszentmihály and renamed Tiszavasvári in 1952. Tiszavasvári has had city status since 1986.
