Tiszalök is a town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in northeast Hungary . It lies on the banks of the Tisza , and the Keleti Canal is derived from the municipal area .

In 2001, 98 percent of the population were Hungarians and 2 percent described themselves as Roma .
Transport links
There are roads to Nyíregyháza (east), Tiszadob (west) and Tiszavasvári (south). There is also a ferry connection to Tiszatardos (north). Furthermore, the city is connected to two railway lines of the Hungarian state railways . One leads via Tiszavasvári to Debrecen and the other from Ohat-Pusztakócs via Tiszalök to Görögszállás (connection to Miskolc ) and Nyíregyháza. However, the Ohat-Pusztakócs - Tiszalök section has been closed for passenger traffic since the timetable change on December 13, 2009.
