Tiszadob is a large municipality in the east of the Hungarian Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in northeast Hungary. It is located on a dead arm of the Tisza , 42 km from Nyíregyháza , 21 km from Tiszavasvári and 33 km from Miskolc .
history
Tiszadob and its surroundings were already inhabited before the conquest . It was mentioned in the Regestum of Várad in 1220 and then in writing in 1336. For a long time it was royal property. In 1430 King Sigismund enfeoffed the diocese of Eger with the place. In 1588 it belonged to the Báthory family . A few years before 1600 the place came into the possession of Francis II Rákóczi and his sister. After the rebellion was put down in 1711, the family lost their property. In 1746 it was bought by Franz Károlyi, who then married into the Andrássy family. In 1846, Count István Széchenyi began straightening the Tisza here.
