Baktalórántháza small area

The small area Baktalórántháza ( Hungarian Baktalórántházai kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the center of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in the Northern Great Plain until the end of 2012 . In early 2013, as part of the administrative reform, 12 of the 19 localities (with 19,521 inhabitants) were transferred to the successor district of Baktalórántháza (Hungarian Baktalórántházai járás ), the other seven localities were transferred to the districts of Kemecse , Kisvárda and Vásárosnamény (2 each) and the district Nyíregyháza (1) split.

At the end of 2012, 34,517 people lived in an area of ​​451.73 km². The population density of 76 was slightly below that of the county.

The administrative seat was in Baktalórántháza (4.037 Ew.), The largest city was Nyírmada (4.885 Ew.). As a large community ( Nagyközség in Hungarian ), Levelek had just under 3,000 inhabitants. This and the other 16 rural communities (villages, in Hungarian : Község ) had an average population of 1,506 inhabitants (on an area of ​​22.22 km² each).
