Small area of ​​Csenger

The small area Csenger ( Hungarian Csengeri kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the east of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county in the Northern Great Plain and on the border with Romania until the end of 2012 . During the administrative reform in 2013, the allocation of the 11 localities remained unchanged.

At the end of 2012, 13,839 people lived in an area of ​​246.51 km². The population density of the least populous small area was 56 inhabitants / km², about half of the county average.

The administrative seat was in the only city Csenger (4.924 Ew.). Two large communities (Hungarian nagyközség ) had over 2,000 inhabitants: Porcsalma and Tyukod . This and the remaining eight municipalities (Hungarian község ) had an average population of 893 inhabitants (on an area of ​​21.04 km² each).
