Nagykálló small area

The small area Nagykálló ( Hungarian Nagykállói kistérség ) was a Hungarian administrative unit ( LAU 1) in the southwest of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in the Northern Great Plain until the end of 2012 . In early 2013, as part of the administrative reform, 8 of the 9 localities moved to the subsequent Nagykálló district ( Nagykállói járás in Hungarian ), the city of Újfehértó was assigned to the Nyíregyháza district ( Nyíregyházi járás in Hungarian ).

At the end of 2012, 43,557 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​518.24 km². The population density of 84 inhabitants / km² was slightly below that of the county.

The administrative seat was in Nagykálló (9.469 Ew.). Újfehértó was the largest city in the small area with 12,979 inhabitants, Balkány (6,468 Ew.) Also had city rights. Kállósemjén (3,600 Ew.) Was the only large municipality (Hungarian nagyközség ). These and the remaining 5 municipalities ( köszég in Hungarian ) had an average of 2,416 inhabitants (each covering an area of ​​36.48 km²).
