Nyírtass (formerly Tass , Yiddish טאהש Tash ) is a Hungarian community in the county Kisvárda in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County .
geography
Nyírtass extends over an area of 37.95 km². The municipality is located 13 km south of Kisvárda near the national road 4 .
history
As early as 1200 Tass was an important place in royal possession. István Jósa settled Poles in 1714 in the place, which had lost its market town status at that time . In the middle of the 19th century there were 23 landowners and 1150 inhabitants. In 1835 Tas was devastated by an earthquake. Since December 22, 1908, the place has been called Nyírtass . At the beginning of the 20th century the community had 290 houses and 2,110 inhabitants.
Attractions
Nyírtass attractions include the Roman Catholic, Greek Catholic and Reformed Churches. the mansion that is now a school, the mayor's office and the park that was handed over at the turn of the millennium. Here is the equestrian statue of the military commander Tas.

The nearest train station is 6 km away in Pátroha on the Szolnok – Debrecen – Nyíregyháza – Záhony railway line.
