Pap is a municipality in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in Kisvárda County in northeast Hungary .

The place is in the northeast of the country, about four kilometers east of Kisvárda .

history
Pap and its surroundings were already settled in the Bronze Age, as archaeological finds show. The name Terra Pop can already be found in documents from the time of King Ladislaus IV (1272–1290). In 1435, the present name was used in a document in Zsély's manuscript collection. In 1458 the Várday family bought the place. Later owners were the Eszterházys , Barons Horváth, the Petrovay, Eördögh, Pethő and Erőss families. At the beginning of the 20th century the place was owned by Baron Ferenc Horváth and György Orosz.
