Attractions

On the mountain is the "Höfer Käppele" from 1838, which is a listed building. The former Hochstraße Frankfurt-Würzburg-Forchheim passed directly in front of Hof. At this highest point there was a watchtower more than 1200 years ago, from which one could overlook the Main crossing at Stadtschwarzach and see as far as Altenburg near Bamberg. The “Höfer Käppele” was built from the stones of this watchtower. The chapel is listed in the Bavarian Monument Protection Act under the number D-4-6128-0008 with the following designation: "Archaeological findings from the Middle Ages and early modern times in the area of the St. Bernhard chapel near Ebrach-Hof."
