The Crimean-Congo fever virus ( Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever virus , CCHFV , also CCFV ), species Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever-Orthonairovirus , is one of the Orthonairoviruses ( family Orthonairoviridae , formerly Nairoviridae ), 80–120 nm RNA virus with a helical capsid . The virus causes Crimean-Congo fever (CCHF).
It is transmitted by ticks . The incubation period is between three and nine days. The transmission through direct contact with blood and body fluids begins five to six days after infection.
Hazara virus
The Hazara virus (HAZV), formerly traded as the closest relative of the CCHFV, belongs to the species Hazara-Orthonairovirus of the same genus.
