Kristiane Kupfer & das kleine Künstlerorchester (also erroneously called Kristiane Kupfer und das Kleine Orchester ) was a German band with a musically and visually attractive stage program. It was founded in 1990 - after the reunification in the GDR - by the singer and actress Kristiane Kupfer and musicians from East Berlin . Achim Gebauer was the initiator, leader and organizer. The repertoire consisted of hits from UFA films as well as ragtime and swing numbers from the 1920s to 1940s, especially interpretations of hits by Marlene Dietrich , Zarah Leander , Ilse Werner and others.
Band history
The band worked among others in 1990 in the feature film The Hi-Sisters , directed by Ottokar Runze with and had from 1991 to 1993 several appearances in talk shows of the East German Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB). In 1992 the band was featured in a special broadcast on the radio program of the SFB .
In addition, the band performed all over Germany and acted as musical accompaniment at shows and galas in Germany and the USA . For example, the band played on behalf of the US Los Angeles-Berlin Sister City Committee , which promotes the twinning between Los Angeles and Berlin , which has existed since 1967 , in 1992 galas in Los Angeles ("nine musicians from Berlin").
In addition to the singer and actress Kristiane Kupfer, the focus was on Hans-Jürgen Reissner (piano, vocals) and Andy Wieczorek (sax, vocals). Most of the band's arrangements were written by Tobias Morgenstern and Stefan Kling (both L'art de passage ). The band recorded several tracks that have not yet been released.
The musicians of the small artist orchestra can now be found in well-known bands, such as:
- Rainer Gäbler: Big Band of the Deutsche Oper Berlin
- Hans-Peter Lange: Music & Voice
- Carsten Muttschall: Modern Soul Band
- Jörg von Nolting: Andrej Hermlins Swing Dance Orchestra
- Jens Saleh: Hardgroove , Bukowsky
- Michael Waterstradt: Andrej Hermlin's Swing Dance Orchestra
