Kristijan Koren (born November 25, 1986 ) is a Slovenian cyclist .
Athletic career
Kristijan Koren started his career in 2005 with the Slovenian Continental Team Sava . At the 2006 road cycling world championships in Salzburg , Austria , he finished tenth in the U23 time trial. A little later he won the Slovenian U23 time trial championship. At the Paths of King Nikola , Koren finished eighth overall. In the following year he won the national elite time trial title.
In 2008, Koren won two stages of the Vuelta a Cuba , one stage of the Istrian Spring Trophy and the La Côte Picarde race . He was also the military world champion in road racing. In 2009 he was successful on one stage of the Giro della Regione Friuli Venezia Giulia and on two stages of the Baby Giro . At the Giro della Valle d'Aosta he won a stage as well as the team time trial of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta together with his team at the time . In 2010 he won the Gran Premio Camaiore and in 2012 a stage of the Tour of Slovenia . After several years without any major success, during which he made major tours of the country every year . In 2018, he and the Bahrain-Merida team decided a stage of Hammer Sportzone Limburg for themselves.
Suspected doping in 2019
As part of the investigation of the "Operation Aderlass" around the German sports doctor Mark Schmidt , Koren came under suspicion in May 2019 of having violated the anti-doping regulations.
