The Kronensee is a 40 ha large quarry pond in the Lower Saxony district of Osnabrück . It is located in the Schwagstorf district of the Ostercappeln community , partly in the area of the Bohmte community .
The lake emerged from a sand and gravel pit operated by the building materials manufacturer quick-mix from 1964 . Its name is derived from the Low German term for cranes. As a bathing lake with a sandy beach, the lake is a regional excursion destination. The Kronensee leisure park is located on site .
Geographical location
The Kronensee is located north of the Wiehengebirge at the northern edge of the central part of the nature and geopark TERRA.vita . The seam line of the natural spatial units Lübbecker Loessland (No. 533.6) and Bohmter Sandgebiet (582.2) runs near the lake.
The lake extends approximately in a west-southwest-east-northeast direction; its larger west-south-west part belongs to Ostercappeln , the small east-north-east part to Bohmte . The middle of the lake is about 1.8 km east of the Ostercappeln district of Schwagstorf. Westerfeld is located near the west bank , and the Langelage mansion , which belongs to Bohmte, is close to the east bank .
The Mittelland Canal runs about 1 km west-southwest of the center of the lake . North of the lake, the small springs Hunte influx moat , the current flowing into the lake from the south-east of the lake small tributaries cancer Burger Mühlebach and Eue moat is fed.
At the Northwest on North to the eastern shore lies the conservation area Langelage ( CDDA -No 322499;. 1959 expelled; 98.20 hectares).
Kronensee leisure park
The 30 hectare Kronensee leisure park has been located directly on the Kronensee since 1986 . There is a campsite, weekend houses and sanitary facilities on its territory. On the lake itself, visitors can surf, sail, pedal boats, kayaks and canoes, as well as diving and fishing. There is a separate nudist area, a dog beach and other facilities outside the lake.
