Joseph Henry Conroy

Joseph Henry Conroy (born November 8, 1858 in Watertown , New York , USA ; † March 20, 1939 in Ogdensburg ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ogdensburg .

Life

Joseph Henry Conroy attended St. Michael's College in Toronto . Then Conroy studied philosophy and Catholic theology at St. Joseph's Seminary in Troy . On June 11, 1881, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Ogdensburg.

Joseph Henry Conroy then worked as a pastor in Churubusco , New York. He then became a pastor at Rouses Point . In April 1883 Conroy became rector of the Cathedral of St. Mary in Ogdensburg. Joseph Henry Conroy became vicar general of the diocese of Ogdensburg in March 1901 . In October 1905 he was given the honorary title of Pontifical House Prelate .

On March 11, 1912 appointed him Pope Pius X to the titular bishop of Arindela and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Ogdensburg. The Archbishop of New York , Cardinal John Murphy Farley , ordained him episcopal on May 1 of that year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Ogdensburg, Henry Gabriels , and the Bishop of Buffalo , Charles Henry Colton .

On November 21, 1921, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . to the bishop of Ogdensburg. The inauguration took place on January 22, 1922.
